Poschl Tabak GmbH is the largest wordwide producer of snuff tobacco. The company was formed in 1902 by Alois Pöschl in Germany. In the 1970s the Alois Pöschl son’s invented a specialized snuff called "GLETSCHERPRISE.” Since 1990, Pöschl has also been expanding internationally. According to Poschl Tabak in 1995 Pöschl became the first and only snuff and tobacco manufacturers in the world to impose strict quality criteria in their production plant. The company holds more than 50% of the market in snuff worldwide and over 93% of the market for comparable snuff products in Germany.
