Description
A hookah or shisha is a single or multi hose water pipe used for smoking flavored hookah tobacco.[1] Originating in India during the 15th century the hookah has gained in popularity throughout the world. The hookah consists of glass bowl and either a single or multiple hose. To use the hookah the glass bowl is filled with cold water, the tobacco is placed in aluminum foil covered bowl and coal is placed on top of the bowl. The smoker uses the hose to pull smoke from the tobacco through the body of the stem into the cold water, the water cools the smoke. [1] Unfortunately hookahs are thought to be a less harmful way to smoke tobacco because the smoke is filtered through water.
