[edit] Description
In 1822 Jacob Fredrik Ljunglöf, a German, began manufacturing Ettan Snus in Sweden. Ettan is Swedish for Number one, and Snus is Swedish for snuff. Ettan Snus is a moist smokeless tobacco product manufactured in two ways, loose snus to be molded, and portion, semi-moist, snus sealed into permeable teabag-like pouches. The molded or pouched snus is then placed in between the lip and the upper gum, where the nicotine is then absorbed. Ettan Snus is available loose, original and mini portion snus.
[edit] Claims
- Sweden is the largest Nordic market with about one million snuff users (or "snus" as it is called in Swedish). More than half of these are former smokers, with women accounting for slightly more than 10 percent of "snus" consumers.[1]
- Ettan recipe will never be changed.
- Ettan is one of Sweden's most popular snus.
- Ettan cans have a new design to its container so that Ettan is up to date.[2]
- There is a growing body of evidence that using Swedish snus can help some people quit smoking.[3]
